The holiday season is here and that means gift giving. If you’ve been with the As One Foundation family, you know we love to stay active in our communities and empower families with Sickle Cell trait and disease. This year, on Saturday, Dec. 3, we are starting something new to help during the Christmas season. We want to support Sickle Cell pediatric patients and their siblings by having our first annual toy drive. This special holiday event is just one of many ways the As One Foundation fulfills its mission to empower families globally, delivering life-saving sickle cell education.
Too often, sickle cell pediatric patients spend important and monumental days as in-patients admitted in the hospital. They are treated for severe crisis pain and other sickle cell associated health conditions like strokes, tissue, organ and bone damage. Although they may not fully understand their condition, they tell us repeatedly they just want to feel “normal.” Your donation of a toy may feel small but be assured it goes quite a long way to helping these young warriors feel normal in an especially good way.
Our goal is to collect 300 toys for the pediatric sickle cell patients at Texas Children’s West Campus, in Katy, Texas. We want your support and contribution as we seek to make a difference, spread a little love, and cheer this Christmas season. Let’s come together to help children with sickle cell by providing fun and educational toys.
Join us from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Houston Community College – Alief Hayes Campus, 2811 Hayes Road, Houston, TX 77082. For large pickups contact us via email at info@asonefoundation.org.
We encourage you to invite your family, friends, co-workers, members of your church, sorority, fraternity, or neighborhood association in participating in the toy drive. We want this to be a successful event so tell everyone.
