Kelly-Ann F. Clarke, Finance Committee Chair and TreasurerA talented legal mind, she is a vital part of the Program Committee and works tirelessly to make a difference for this foundation. Kelly-Ann F. Clarke of Kingston, Jamaica, graduated from Duke University with a triple major in Comparative Area Studies, Spanish and Russian. She also holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center. Ms. Clarke serves as an officer of the ABA YLD and, in 2009-2010, serves as Chair of the nation’s young lawyer organization. She volunteers with numerous community projects, from her local to homeowner’s association to the Meals On Wheels organization.
A vital part of the foundation’s success, she believes that this group can make a difference and uses her considerable skills and resources to achieve that. Cicely Darling is secretary to the foundation that works to make the dreams and aspirations of her husband and deceased brother-in-law a reality. Darling, a former kindergarten teacher, athletic administrator, and athlete, has always had a sincere love and appreciation for youth trying to excel in the world of athletics. She also understands the importance of a good education and leading a life grounded in spiritual ideology. These elements embody the mission and goals of the As One Foundation.
Devard Darling, PresidentFollowing his heart to achieve the foundation goals and honor the memory of Devaughn, he knows that, “This is the environment where I can make a difference.” Darling, the founder and current President of the As One Foundation. Darling continues to pursue his goals on the professional football field while bringing to life the dream envisioned between him and Devaughn: to bring the game of American football to their native country of the Bahamas and open the Devaughn Darling Sports Complex.
Robert Darnell, Vice PresidentBringing untiring efforts as the Coach Coordinator for the Devard Darling Football Camp, Bobby Darnell coordinates all of the coach’s efforts, defining and refining the camp schedule, and maintaining the integrity of the camp curriculum and philosophy. Coach Darnell is recently appointed to the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Fort Bend ISD’s newest high school, Ridge Point High, building on more than seven years coaching experience at the high school level of Fort Bend ISD. Darnell was part of the highly touted and competitive Ethnic Minority and Internship Program with the NCAA, was recruited by the University of Texas at Austin as their Assistant Compliance Coordinator, and is a former Baylor University wide receiver with numerous honors and awards on and off the field.

Arthur Hightower, Fundraising Committee ChairHis fresh perspective on developing the minds, bodies, and characters of tomorrow’s leaders will be invaluable as the foundation moves forward. Currently with the NFL San Diego Charger’s organization, Arthur Hightower assists players with off-the-field issues and helps prepare them for life after football. He oversees programs in continuing education, life skills, financial and career education/planning and career internships. Hightower serves on the NFL’s player development continuing education and financial education committees and received the NFL’s Winston-Shell Award in 2007. Hightower has a long a productive association with the NCAA in many positions. He earned an undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University and a graduate degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Administration from Florida State University, and currently resides in San Diego, California.
Amy Malone, Board MemberHer persuasive communication skills, strong writing ability, and love for entertainment will help the foundation generate heightened awareness in the urban community. Amy Malone is the President of the Los Angeles based publicity firm, GIC Public Relations. For many years Amy has been a significant force in the world of urban entertainment, working for such industry leaders as Capitol Records, Virgin Entertainment, CBS Entertainment, “It Girl” Public Relations, and BRE Magazine. Working in various fields of entertainment has given her the opportunity to see firsthand the lack of publicist catering to the urban market. Malone attended California State University of Long Beach, where she majored in communications and is a native of Los Angeles.
Naomi Miller, Board MemberHer passion for the foundation began when her daughter, Alyssa, was awarded an As One scholarship. Naomi Miller’s dedication to the foundation grew as she learned more about the heart of the Darling family and their commitment to enriching the lives of others while honoring Devaughn’s memory. Miller has a Master’s degree in International Finance and a BA in Accounting, but it is her tireless energy and willingness to serve in any capacity needed that will make the greatest difference for the foundation. As a single parent, she understands intimately the impact that the As One scholarship can have on a family. Miller resides in the Houston area and works as a controller.
Robert Mills, Programs Committee ChairHis professional and personal expertise help further enhance the strong Fundraising/Personal Development Programs of the foundation. Robert Mills, a native Bahamian, is a Marketing Executive for Marriott Vacation Club International with a BS in Communications and a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Old Dominion University. Mills realizes the struggles that the youth of the Bahamas must face each day and knows that his involvement will help to provide more educational and development opportunities.
Tomia Austin, Executive DirectorA fresh perspective and winning attitude will keep the foundation’s day-to-day activities on track. Tomia Austin has taken the reigns and is poised to lead the charge of fulfilling the mission and vision of the As One Foundation. She considers it a divinely designed opportunity of a lifetime that matches her near fifteen years experience in fundraising, event-planning, community and public relations with her personal passions for youth, education, sports and spiritual values. Austin earned an undergraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism and a graduate degree in Sport & Leisure Management from Florida A&M University, and currently resides in Metro Atlanta, Georgia.
