The first annual Devaughn & Devard Darling Senior High School Award recipients were announced in early summer, 2009. Through the As One Foundation, National Football League wide receiver Devard Darling sponsors scholarships each year for ten extraordinary students in honor of Devaughn Darling. The scholarÂship is designed to give students encouragement and financial assistance to further educational goals. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership, community involvement and special interests and talents.
The As One Foundation congratulates all of the inaugural 2009 recipients on their hard work and dedication, and wish all of them much success with their academic pursuits.

The 2009 grant recipients were honored at a lunch in Houston, Texas, with presentations by Devard Darling and Robert Mills. Mills also served as Selection Committee Chairman together with Kelly-Ann Clarke who served as the High School Senior Awards Program Chairwoman. Both Mills and Clarke are As One Foundation Board Members.
